"The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands."
- Psalm 19:1
Today, when I got on the pedicab after a trip to the dentist, I looked up to the dark-blue sky and saw one of the most eye-popping, breath-taking thing I've ever seen in my life which can only be done through the hands of the Lord. Last week, my brother warned me that during this month, the planets Jupiter and Venus will be seen clearly in the sky. Tonight, they are arranged in such a way that they form a smiley face with the crescent moon as the mouth! Heres a picture I took a few minutes ago:
My brother and I were both overwhelmed with the sight of the three heavenly bodies arranged by God to smile at us. However, we both forgot to take a picture for about half an hour later, until Kuya Ed texted me about the rare (and possibly once in a lifetime) event (thanks so much Kuya), we finally remembered, but had to go through great lengths to take the pic without having the image getting blurred. We had to be on our toes on some rocks because the face had already started to set behind the trees, not to mention we broke the tripod (which, in fact, is older than I am) while doing so. After a few terrible takes, we were finally able to take a good shot at the face.
Here's an edited version of the pic:
We have that great tendency to forget that God is indeed GOD, and that nothing's impossible for Him! Yaweh, Jirah, Ginoo's tanang Ginoo, the GREAT I AM!!! I can honestly imagine God laughing as He proclaims His greatness upon the world, showing us that He is as great as the heavens are above the earth! This Yuletide Season, God wants us to remember the true Spirit of Christmas. It's that Christmas isn't just about presents, Noche Buena, Christmas bonus or quality time at home, but it's when God decided to give His Son to the world to save it. The heavens rejoiced! The night was calm! The Savior was born! But how ironic it is that the town where He was to be born had no room for Him, that He'd have to humble Himself to be born in a manger. Nevertheless, He endured life all the way to the cross, dying, and rising again!
He is the reason why we're still taking our undeserved breaths. He is the reason why we're saved. Now it's up to us to accept Him into our lives, not just this Christmas season, but throughout our lives.
I started my real, unempty smiles the moment I received Him into my life. Earlier tonight, I actually saw my Savior smile back at me, pleased of my openness to His constant tugging on my heart. Right now, since it's my first Christmas as a believer, I'm sure it'll be the best Christmas I'll have (so far, at least).
"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom His favor rests."
- Luke 2:14
